Integration guide

GitHub Integration for AI Agents

GitHub can supply issue and repository evidence to agent workflows. The actual access path and actions depend on the agent and permissions granted.

What an agent can do

With suitable authorized access, an agent can read issue or pull request context and draft a report. This is a workflow design pattern, not a claim that every agent has a native GitHub connector.

Supported agents

OpenAI Dots and Meta Muse both discuss connected apps generally. AI Dots has not verified GitHub action coverage for either product; compatibility is Unknown.

Permissions

GitHub documents separate fine-grained permissions for Issues, Pull requests, and repository contents. Start with read access where the task only requires evidence. Add write grants only when a separate approved workflow needs them.

Setup notes

Inspect the agent’s current connection screen, the GitHub account or installation scope, and the accepted permissions shown for each API operation. Test on a noncritical repository before enabling writes.

Limitations

A browser session is not equivalent to a GitHub API integration. Private repository data requires explicit access, and a Blueprint cannot grant or enforce that access.
